Florida Law Firm Sponsors Local Moot Court Tournament
Colling Gilbert Wright is the title sponsor of the 2014 American Collegiate Moot Court Association (ACMA) South Atlantic Regional Qualifying Tournament. The tournament will take place November 7 and November 8 at the University of Central Florida campus in Orlando.
The South Atlantic moot court tournament is one of 10 regional qualifying events across the country that will determine which teams will advance to the ACMA National Tournament. The national competition will also be held in Florida early next year at the Florida International University College of Law in Miami.
Moot court is an opportunity for undergraduate students to learn about the American legal system. Working in teams of two, students present oral arguments before a simulated appeals court. Judges are recruited from local bar associations, law school alumni, and other organizations, meaning student participants will be evaluated by professionals with real-world experience.
All of us at Colling Gilbert Wright are proud to support the next generation of attorneys. Events like moot court competition make it possible for young people to begin building skills and experience with oral arguments and jurisprudence before they even start law school.
Members of the public are welcome to attend hearings at the South Atlantic Regional moot court tournament to see these talented students compete.
